I wonder if every time someone was about to do something they weren't supposed to, if they would just stop and think about it for 5 seconds would the world be a better and safer place?
Well, its that time of year again and I have the hunting fever. Temperatures are cooling down and there are animals everywhere. But other than bow hunting, I have to wait until the end of October. I am getting my gear all clean and ready to go.
Well, this weekend the Andrew County shooting sports team went down to Columbia, Missouri for the state shoot. I was in two events and we won 1st place in shotgun and haven't heard for sure about 22 rifle. It was SOOOOO much fun the night before cause we went to eat and swim and stayed up late. We were tired the next morning, but we still shot well.
As the Missouri state youth shooting competition is approaching (we leave on Friday), I am happily remembering 7 years ago when I first shot a gun. It was so long ago that I really don't remember it that much but I probably couldn't hit anything. But here I am 7 years later going to shoot competition at a state level........I can't wait. I will post pictures and results next Monday.
For about a week now, dove season has been open and I have already been out 7 times and killed about 30 doves! It is alot of fun and my friend, Cole, and I are going to go tomorrow. Hopefully we will get some more of them.
Thursday night, I went to a horse show at my horse-riding teacher's house. It was a great time and I won two 1st place ribbons and three 2nd place ribbons. I had a great time, and my Aunt Donna, cousin Eli and my Grandma Colleen came to watch me.
Well as some of you might know, the KC Chiefs are now having training camp in Saint Joe and we went to watch them on Friday. It was really cool to see all the players that I see on TV like Matt Cassel (see pic-- he is number 7 and in the yellow) and Jamal Charles. It was so fun and I hope we go again.
On Saturday, we had a clay target shoot out at our house. It was really fun, and we had 9 shooters. I tied for first place with Brad Morrison, but I lost the tie breaker. After shooting, we ate supper (it was REALLY good) and then shot some more. We even coaxed some of the wives of the shooters to shoot in the front yard.
This year my brother and I are taking summer school. We have gone almost every year. This year I will be in 8th grade(my mom cant believe it). It is so much fun and I have SO many GREAT friends.
On Thursday are church had a teen night for anybody over 5th grade to college. It was really fun. We played games and had a devo that Ethan did.............he did a GREAT job.
On Saturday, we went to our first chess tournament. It was LONG(9 to 3) but fun. I took 11th in my age division and my brother took 5th in his. If you know how to play, I need practice ( other than my brother...It is to EASY to beat him) : )
On Sunday was our piano recital. This was my 4th recital and my brother's 2nd. We both did really well, although we were both a little nervous. I played Rage Over a Lost Penny by Beethoven and Valentine by Jim Brickman. Both of my grandmas came, my cousins Dayton Michaela and Eli, Aunt Donna and Keith.
Well, a couple of weeks ago, my cat had kittens and today we found them in my dad's boat (he is not happy). The are so cute. There are 2 boys and 2 girls and the are all black and gray.
On Saturday, I went to the first shooting sports shoot of the year. It was up past Maryville and it was really fun. I was competing in shotgun and 22. I took Fifth in shotgun and 51st in 22. We have one more shoot and a ton of practices before the state shoot in September in Columbia Mo.
Monday, my dad and I went turkey hunting, and after a LONG morning of hunting, I FINALLY killed this turkey at 10:36. He had almost an inch spurs and a 10 inch beard. It was my seventh turkey (it is still so much fun).
On Wednesday, we took Nathan and Sarah (our piano teacher's kids) to the Patee House Museum and to Jesse James House. At the Patee House Museum, we did a Seek and Find where we went to different rooms and had to find what didn't belong in that room for that time frame. It was very interesting. There were lots of cool things and one of my favorites was the tank where we pretended to shoot each other (See pic). At Jesse James house, we got to look around the house and we saw the bullet hole in the wall ( there is a pic) were he was killed by one of his own gang members for a reward.
Last weekend was the MS walk. It was beautiful weather for a walk. We had 6 people on our team my dad is in the picture but he wasn't on the team because he drove the golf cart ( he is on the board for the local chapter). Last year we walked four miles and this year they surprised us and gave us the option of walking 6 miles so we did. It was so much fun.
Last week,we did some burning because our CRP grasses have to be burned every year. It is alot of fun, but it gets REALLY hot if you get too close. My favorite part is probaly looking at it the next day and seeing what I did.
grandma's and said that she had to take care of something in town and she would pick us up later. So when she came back to pick us up, we were walking out to the car and Jake and Austin jumped out from behind a wall........what a suprise! Anyway, they stayed that night and the night after that and then they went to grandma's until Monday when we picked them up to go to the Nature Center where we did a scavenger hunt outside on the nature trail they have. Then we went to Monkey Cove ( an indoor water park) and went down the GIANT slide about 20 times, and played in the pool.
Last week we started our 8 week homeschool classes. I am taking Intro to Algebra and Wind Energy plus some 12 week classes. My favorite class is Wind Energy. I like it because it is about conservation and the outdoors.
Yesterday we started are 12 week home school classes. My brother and I both had a class about science experiments and we have Chess. I really like both of them. We are also will be taking some 8 week classes and Mom will be teaching a 8 week Spanish class.
On Sunday after church, we did some work on the church building. Are main thing was painting the fellowship room. My cousin Micheala, Christina Hopkins, and I worked on the Haiti room where we are going to store all the donations we get.
